GENERAL RULES
I. The site rating is pg-13
Due to the Proboards Regulations and all that legal fancy stuff, the site's rating needs to stay at PG-13. That means don't cuss every two words, nothing explicit (either it be sex, violence, and all that other stuff) and well, to keep it where you wouldn't mind your thirteen year old to access. I shouldn't have to explain this, but to make it simple any infraction of this rule has to be banned and deleted, if we want to keep the site up and running. As a side note, if you want to do any of these things, go ahead, so long as it's not on site. (That includes PMs guys.)
II. KEEP your control to yourself
So this is also a standard on any site. No godmodding, metagaming or any of that stuff. I also include over-logicing in this too. Generally, do not control anybody's characters, make things extremely convoluted logically, or just try to be the super best. Everyone wins and loses, so you better be losing sometime. I shouldn't have to explain this to everyone, but yeah.
III. R-E-S-P-E-C-T Learn what it means to me
This is another general thing most sites have but I'll clarify, since everyone has different standards. I expect, and demand, politeness and cordiality for everyone. That includes guests, staff, members, the new guy, even the one that's an annoying buttmunch. No matter who it is, you're not allowed to be a general jerk to them. If you hate the person? Fine, don't interact with them, don't bait them, for the love of Arceus leave them alone. If you really can't handle it, just pm me and I'll see what I can do. But generally, keep yourself squeaky clean, else wise you're just as much at fault. Everyone should receive the same treatment and that's what I want here.
IV. DRAMA LLAMAS SUCK, ALPACA'S ARE CUTER
So guys, we're all human. Sometimes someone tramples over our last nerve, myself include, and all we want to do is cause a giant boatload of problems. I'm human, other staff are human, you're human, the cat next door is humanoid. You get my point. Generally this rule ties in with the Respect one, and is simple. Keep your buttmunch to yourself. I understand having a bad day, I understand ranting and wanting comfort, Arceus knows that. What I don't condone, is being excessively one sided, cliquish and all that social trauma that's associated with being a buttmunch. Just don't do it. If I do notice trends, I may mosey on over and talk to you about it. But generally, if something gets on and you need help, my pm box is open, and I'll even chuck you my skype if you really need it. (if your problem is with me, there are other staffs to talk to as well.) there's no reason you should be having a drama infestation over there.
V. THERE's NO RUSH
Okay this one thing that I have to make a rule. You've probably all have had that one member that's being a 'COME ON POST NOW GIMME POST POST POST POST' thing. Well I want to let it be known there's a virtue, and it's called patience. That means be patient with your fellow members, the staff and what not. We've got lives (well most of us, I don't count) and will take time. Sometimes our muse died, sometimes we got sucked in by league. There's an absence board, a c-box and probably a skype group too, so you've got no excuse for being vanishment and/or being buggy as crickets. Some people have slower rates or weird schedules. So just take it in stride a bit yeah?
VI. YOU'RE RIGHT OF TSARNESS
(ha intentional butt grammar there) Yes, arguments happen. Or Arceus forbid, the staff make a mistake because we're human and that happens. This happens to be enough of a problem that I'm making it it's own rule. Generally, a resolved argument ends with understanding and none of the parties being well... yeah. I'm giving you all a special code word: bananas. If someone employs that word during your argument, you are to immediately back off, and give them some breathing space. Some people need to back off, clear their heads, calm their emotions, and chill out before continuing. This is an enforced rule, and if you happen to not respect this, there are punishments. So if someone disrespects this rule, feel free to pm a staff and we'll get on it. This doesn't mean abuse this though, because if you do, you can get punished yourself.
VII. MODERATION IS KEY
99% percent of the site, systems, and what not are free-form and don't have restrictions for the most part. (logic) Along with opinions and what not, I suggest you only take what you can handle. Nobody likes it when you take 50 face-claim and use 2. However, you're not allowed to shame anyone either if they're not your definition of moderation either. You have your own limits and other people have their own. Keep that in mind, and don't feel awkward about joining either, we're a friendly bunch... for the most part.
IN CHARACTER RULES
I. OOC ACCOUNTS
OOC Accounts, or Out of Character Accounts, are not required. However, they are allowed and especially encouraged! You're only allowed one OOC account, and generally suggest you sign that up first. You know, so that if by some wild chance you are staff, you can have the account nice and ready and not have tagging problems or something haha. But yeah, OOC accounts can't post in roleplay boards and all that jazz, but are super useful to have for plotting and stuff.
II. CHARACTER LIMITS
I touched this a bit in the moderation rule, but let's visit it again. There is no limit to the amount of characters you may have. Period. No you need x amount of posts, or you need to buy the slot stuff. I kind of like some of these but I decided to not restrain anyone when they want to make characters. However, some things are limited, such as special character classes. These have their own information and thus should be looked at individually. As a note, the ratio (shall) for these characters is about 1 special character to every 3-10 characters. This is a bit flexible, and depends on how many characters the person ends up having/planning/making. It's flexible to each person, so if you want to know your ratio, feel free to pm me about it.
III. CREATIVITY MAKES US A HAPPY BEE
You really like that one anime character? Good for you. But please, please, don't rip their powers, their history, their names, or just them in general into the site. I can understand inspiration and the feel of the face claim, but I don't want to see someone face claim Hatsune Miku and then proceed to make her as she actually is. Just no. It's even worse if you pick a different fc and then stick the 'Hatsune Miku' name on it and then proceed to do the same. I'm fine with inspiration, references, and puns, but I absolutely despise character copies. Also, do not try to copy someone else's profiles and stuff. Make sure to properly credit if you're using templates too. Just don't be a thief in general. And please, no Mary-sues, Gary-stues or 'look I'm a walking cliche that's not even good' such as 5 year old geniuses that graduated college. If you're worried about anything, feel free to pm me however.
IV. Fit the lore and timelines
Hey, I love Fire Emblem as much as the next person, but by Arceus's Foot, you're not going to make a character and feed them to me with a FE history. Just no. Make sure your history, and your character, fits the era in which the site is set up in, and any of the site lore. You can ask clarifying question, but if you try to twist the lore to suit you, or change things that were clearly written in said lore, that's an instant-deny try again. Keep in mind that none of this should be happening because of a measure I put in.
V. Content regulation
Okay I've inferred this in a lot of places but here's another one. Your character and their content must be appropriate to the site rating. A lot of people however, have triggers and other forms of content that they do not approve of. I won't sit here and necessarily tell you not to, but I do heavily, and I mean heavily, suggest that if something bothers you, to ignore it. I personally will not allow any content to be pulled so long as it works with the TOS,and I'm sorry if it triggers you. However, as a person with many triggers myself, I would simply suggest to ignore it, or politely tell the person that you may not want to deal with said content because of your issues. But I won't restrict people on topics, so if someone wants Schizophrenia, go ahead. As long as you did your research, I'm fine with that. However, an important thing to keep in mind is that most things affect people differently, so before someone goes off on the 'that's not how you write x' train, keep in mind that everything has different interpretations and reactions within people. People that cause issues with this will be punished if they cross lines, and I will not be very forgiving about it either, because this is the type of thing that will break a community.
VI. Posting Information
I noticed I forgot something important! And that's stuff dealing with posts. So here's the download: the site is on liquid time has a word count of 250 words (except for the one area on the board) and employs a 72 hour rule. What's this all mean? Well, liquid time is so that people don't get stuck in topics (but you manage your own timeline okay), the word count is to discourage one liners in general (however, there is a section where this can be done) and the rule is how long until you can skip someone's post. Generally, I wouldn't suggest skipping a post, but if you really need to, like in an event or a group thread that would die because person x is missing.... yeah.
OTHER RULES
I. GRAPHIC SIZES AND REQUIREMENTS
I know I could've stuff this in the other thing but (concede) this deserves it's own widget. Firstly, the hover (it is the field in the 'personal' section of your profile) is sized at 210x420. Yes, I know that's a weird size, but that's what the site skin wants. The Avatar is 150x150. All other site required graphics (profiles, who's who, etc.) are all icons, which is 100x100. Graphics are a /requirement/, not an option. If you want to be approved, you need to not be naked. If you have problems with getting any of these, either a good image or the actual graphic, feel free to ask the staff. 90% of us are handy with photoshop so we can help!
II. COMMON SENSE
I expect that you're not criminally stupid. This is not a rule per say, just a 'please, if you're dumb as a bag of rocks and can't even properly be a person, no' kind of thing. I want anyone and everyone to join, but keep in mind to somewhat remember the whole common sense thing. And that means reading the rules and stuff, and not being a buttmunch to people and all of the other fancy things I put down in the rules.
III. DISPLAY NAMES
Okay so, this is one of those aesthetics thing. you can sign up with whichever name you wish, because that's your tag. But your display name depends on one of two things. If it is an asian name (chinese, japanese, mongolian, korean, etc. that lovely crowd of people) I expect it to be last name first name. If your character's name is non-asian, then first name last name thank you very much. Should you be using a fake name and hide your real one, go by the fake name in your display name. This is only if you're permanently using a fake name. Aliases, alternate identities, nicknames, codenames, etc. are not to be used for your display name. For OOC Accounts, you are not allowed a symbol, that's for staff only. Otherwise you have free reign.
As a note, if your Japanese named character gets married to an americain named character, they would still use last first for their display name. (so say your character was original Tsubaki Suzumu, but ended up marying a Eric Brains, she would be Brains Suzumu.) In name origins, people are unlimited so feel free to name your characters how you wish! (just try to make sense with the naming patterns. No Victoria Grandmeister is the mother to a Tsubaki Suzumu because she wanted to name her daughter weird. It has to make sense.)
IV. Rule Adjustments & Punishments
The staff here at Isolated Crowds reserve the right to add, remove and change rules at any time that they see fit. Do try to re-read the rules every once in a while to make sure you're still up to date with them.
As for punishments, these are to the discretion of staff but include and are not limited to: banning for a period of time, permanent ban, warnings, removal of certain privileges, and/or restraining conditions. This is only for the rule breakers, but don't bait the staff into punishing you, you won't like it.
(make sure to get the right password too, because that means you read the important stuff!)
